Periodicals Content Index (PCI) and Periodicals Content Index Full-Text (PCI Full-Text)
PCI is to scholarly journals in the humanities and social sciences what ABI/Inform is to business periodicals, the premier resource of its kind-one index, one site, one research tool offering the most comprehensive coverage of thousands of journals. PCI catalogues every article in complete runs of journals dating as far back as 1770. PCI provides access to the bibliographic records of more than 3,700 journals from their inception to 1990/91 (currently being extended to 1995). It contains records for over 12.5 million journal articles, with over 1 million entries added each year. Its coverage is international and broad-every area of the humanities and social sciences together with journals of general interest.
PCI Full Text broadly mirrors the scope of Periodical Contents Index in that all titles included in PCI FullText will be indexed in PCI. Currently the earliest journal included in FullText is the Edinburgh Review dating from 1802. The aim is to create the major online archive of periodicals in the humanities and social sciences. PCI Full Text was launched in March 2000. An undertaking was given to digitize the contents of 100 journals in the first year and at least this many each year thereafter. PCI Full Text currently contains the entire contents of 164 journals (over 3 million page images) and is on target to grow by in excess of 100 journals in the next 12 months. PCI and JSTOR linking
PCI and PCI FullText with JSTOR linking ProQuest is very pleased to announce that PCI Full Text and PCI with JSTOR linking are now live on the US and UK servers. Participants in JSTOR's Arts & Sciences I and Arts & Sciences II Collections can now link directly from the relevant index records in PCI and PCI Full Text to the corresponding full text within JSTOR. Currently ten journals from JSTOR's Arts & Sciences I Collection have links available.
