SCELC Vendor Day 2007: About Britannica
Britannica Online Academic Edition: Looking for new ways to help students get started on their projects? Need to show them an easy way to get answers to their questions? Want to learn about the new research tools and exciting new content that have been added to Britannica Online?
Community college, college, and university librarians are invited to this session to explore the recently expanded Britannica Online Academic Edition. The new research tools allow students to compare countries using current demographic and economic statistics, (including built-in graphing and charting tools!), plus students can also use Britannica's new advanced search options and even store their own research materials in Britannica for future use. Britannica Online includes a wealth of resources on History, Geography, Art, Humanities, Science, Technology, and many other subjects.
This session will be conducted by Hilit Kravitz, Encyclopaedia Britannica's Director of Professional Development. Any questions that you have about Britannica Online are welcome during this session.
Britannica Global Reference Center: Looking for online reference materials for international, bilingual, and foreign language students? Encyclopaedia Britannica recently launched a new online foreign-language source called Britannica Global Reference Center. It includes Spanish, Japanese, and Chinese (both Traditional and Simplified), plus French and Korean sources will be added soon. You'll find encyclopedias and dictionaries plus brilliant photos, detailed maps, and other imagery to engage readers and encourage further learning.
Already using Britannica's Enciclopedia Universal en Español? This session will also cover the new content and features being added to this popular Spanish-language resource. Any questions that you have about Enciclopedia Universal en Español are welcome.
Join us to explore Britannica's foreign-language coverage of art, geography, history, politics, science, sports, technology, plus additional local content including culture, history, and traditions from each area. This session will be conducted by Hilit Kravitz, Encyclopaedia Britannica's Director of Professional Development. Each participant will receive a 45-day free trial to the Global Reference Center, including Enciclopedia Universal en Español, plus Japanese, Chinese, and French sources.
