Information for SCELC Vendors
So you want to offer an electronic resource through SCELC?
Here's how it works:
- Contact the Executive Director, Rick Burke, at admin@scelc.org, or phone (310) 728-6793.
- The Executive Director may vet the product with the SCELC Product Review Committee (PRC), a committee of selected reference librarians drawn from a subset of member libraries.
- In some instances, a PRC member will complete a review of the product, which can be shared with the vendor.
- Once the PRC has decided that the product should be offered to SCELC, the Executive Director will request a License Agreement and negotiate the terms. In some instances, steps 23 will be bypassed, and move directly to license and cost negotiation.
- A general trial, accessible via our trials web page, and preferably IP-authenticated, will then be established for the full membership. Vendor contact information will also be displayed on the trials web page.
- SCELC Order Forms with pricing will be sent to all SCELC members.
- The SCELC office will collect SCELC Order Forms, and a spreadsheet will be sent to the vendor, listing all subscribing libraries and costs.
- SCELC will provide central billing and invoicing services to all subscribers and to the vendor.
- The vendor will supply activation information for the products, which will be sent to all subscribers.
