Awards and Scholarships

Award for Internship Excellence

SCELC acknowledges excellence in internships by students in an ALA-accredited graduate library science program who have completed an internship with distinction in a SCELC Member institution. The SCELC Board of Directors reviews and evaluates all applications.

Conference Travel Award

Each year SCELC awards funds to librarians and staff at SCELC Member institutions in order to cover expenses for in-person conference attendance. (NOTE: Online conference attendance is covered by SCELC's separate Professional Development Award.) Applications are reviewed by our Program and Professional Development Committee (PPDC).

Library Science Student Scholarships

Every year, SCELC offers scholarships to library science students on the staff of SCELC Member libraries. The SCELC Program/Professional Development Committee reviews and evaluates all applications. Strong applicants will also be awarded additional scholarship funding in the form of either the:

Professional Development Awards

Once a year, SCELC awards funding in the form of reimbursements to enable professional development activities for librarians and staff at SCELC member libraries.

SCELC Research Incentive Awards

The purpose of the SCELC Research Incentive Award is to provide funding to support conducting research, publishing research, and presenting research in librarianship. These funds are designed to supplement any funding that is available from member libraries. The SCELC Research Incentive Award may be used for a variety of activities associated with conducting and disseminating research.

SPIF Awards

The SCELC Project Initiatives Fund (SPIF) advances the consortium's strategic initiatives by funding Member institution and committee proposals to plan, create, and implement projects that will have an impact on SCELC libraries and librarians.
